Drummer and band leader, David Hansen, features the best jazz artists in New Orleans. His regular nightly performance since 2006 (11.5 years) is at Houston’s Restaurant on St. Charles Ave. His Garden District Trio features the best pianists and bassists performing nightly with a seven foot Steinway, upright bass and Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute drums. They provide an intense, swingin’ and groove session every night.
Hansen’s Garden District Band has performed for events worldwide with the trio, five and eight piece bands in Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Malaysia and Canada for private events and public music festivals. The musicians are all world-class professionals and have collectively performed as freelance artists with the best known “name” jazz artists in the world.
The Garden District Band is a sophisticated jazz ensemble performing from a huge repertoire ranging from classic standards, very old New Orleans traditional jazz, big band hits, bebop, Latin/Jazz to funky New Orleans street beat or second line type songs in a very creative and highly improvised setting.
Jazz and Latin groove infused the Garden District Band performs from the Classic American Songbook with Swing, Ballads, Bossa Nova, Samba and quasi-rhumba styles with a unique New Orleans feel.
