AFM Local 174-496 New Orleans was pleased to welcome National AFM President Ray Hair to our office on Nov. 16th.
In a meeting with members of the executive board, President Hair addressed focal points for the union’s work in the upcoming year as well as progressive plans in our efforts to better the lives of our musicians in southeast Louisiana.
A professional musician and former music teacher, Mr. Hair’s extensive experience advocating on behalf of AFM members began in Texas, where he served as the President-Secretary of the Fort Worth Professional Musicians Association. He’s currently a member of the Labor Advisory Committee for U.S. Trade Negotiations and Trade Policy; co-chair of the American Federation of Musicians and Employers’ Pension Fund, and a board member of both the AFM-AFTRA Fund and SoundExchange.
