John Cain is a BMI affiliate composer
John Cain, known principally as a jazz pianist and singer, is also a songwriter, composer, musician, actor, bandleader, arranger and conductor.
He performs solo and with his jazz trio. He is a multi-stylistic musician performing several genres: jazz, blues, country, Latin and retro-pop.
He plays piano, guitar, bass, harmonica, accordion and sings in five languages.
After living in South America for a couple of years where he owned, operated and performed at his own venue, ”The Tangier Lounge” in Cuenca, Ecuador. Cain now resides in New Orleans, LA. He performs in NOLA and does stints throughout the United States and in other countries around the world. In addition to live performances he gives educational lectures and seminars on the history of jazz, Latin music, and classical music. He is an Artist in Residence with the So Cal Jazz Society, and The Jazz Society Of Ecuador. He is a Docent with the Advocates For Classical Musicfor the San Diego Symphony. He performs frequently with his wife KatieCatin the duo KatieCat & Cain. Cain often tours with the San Francisco Bay Area smooth jazz group ”GTF” at various jazz festivals and venues such as The Blue Note. He is author of the book “Life’s A Good Gig,” nominated for best non-fiction book by the San Diego Book & Writers Awards. He has penned several essays and articles for various publications.
